Durr Estates is one of the oldest brands in the Real Estate industry, in the Western Cape. From humble beginnings in September 1969 it very soon emerged as one of the leading Estate Agencies in the Cape Peninsula.

The company was founded by John Durr and Arlene McKenzie in Constantia under the name of Storm Durr Estates. Soon after the Durr brothers, with John, Kent, Gavin and Storm all playing an active part, joined with Arlene Mckenzie, the driving force and administrative director of the business.

As in any industry innovators are soon followed, and so it was that a rapidly expanding Durr Estates was followed by other brands, who have all since become well known in the real estate industry of the Cape Peninsula.

In 1995 the shareholders initiated a series of events that saw the business changing from a family owned business, where all branches were owned and managed by shareholders of the company, to what it is today - a franchised operation consisting of independently owned Durr Estates offices spread over the Western, Southern and Eastern Cape.

The Durr Estates brand is well known throughout the Cape, and has grown over the years into a large network of offices covering the Peninsula, Boland, Overberg, Southern and Eastern Cape.

The various franchise offices are co-ordinated by Durr Holdings with offices in Sea Point, Cape Town. This centralises all the organizational functions such as marketing of the brand, liaison between licensees, organization of conferences and awards functions, communication with bond originators, training of agents and press advertising.

Durr Holdings is managed by a Board of Directors who all are licensees in their own right and who have an intimate knowledge of the real estate industry. The board meets monthly to discuss issues within the group of franchisees and also the broader property industry. The office is run by administrative staff, supervised by a general manager.

Durr Holdings views itself as the custodian of the Durr Estates brand, which has a well established, and proud name in the property industry - one which has the potential to become a leading brand.

With our foundations firmly rooted in the property industry since 1969 our vision for the Durr Estates brand is to exceed the expectations of all with whom we interact in the conduct of our business, in order to build on the proud heritage of a successful brand.

Our mission is to grow the Durr Estates brand into one of the leading brands in the property industry by continuously improving our market share in existing license areas and pursuing growth in unlicensed areas, both regionally and nationally.
